Volkswagen India is gearing up to roll out the Tayron in the next few weeks, and they’ve been dropping hints about the SUV all over their social media. Essentially, the Tayron is a three-row version of the Tiguan currently on sale in India.
In terms of dimensions, the Tayron is longer and slightly wider than the standard Tiguan, effectively stepping in as a successor to the discontinued Tiguan AllSpace. While the front design closely resembles the Tiguan, the side profile and rear feature distinct styling elements that set it apart.
Interior
Inside, the Tayron is likely to have a cabin layout similar to the Tiguan, but it’s also adding a third row of seats, which is pretty cool. Feature highlights are likely to include a large 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-speaker audio setup, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and safety equipment such as nine airbags.

Powertrain
Powering the Tayron should be the familiar 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine, producing 204 PS and 320 Nm of torque, identical to the Tiguan’s tune. This motor’s gonna team up with a slick 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, sending power to all four wheels through Volkswagen’s cool 4Motion system.
Right now, you can get your hands on the Volkswagen Tiguan in just one cool R-Line version, and it’s going for Rs.58.51 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Based on this, the Tayron is expected to be priced at around Rs. 61 lakh. While the current-generation Tiguan struggled in India due to its premium pricing and absence of a diesel option, the older model performed reasonably well. It will be interesting to see how the Tayron performs in the market, where it will take on rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq and MG Gloster.
