KTM 390 Enduro R (Global-Spec) Launched in India at ₹3.53 Lakh
KTM has officially launched the global-spec version of the 390 Enduro R in India, priced at ₹3.53 lakh (ex-showroom). Unlike the earlier Indian-tuned version, which featured reduced suspension travel and a lower seat height to suit local conditions, the new global-spec model arrives in its original, more rugged form — much to the delight of off-road enthusiasts.
When KTM first introduced the 390 Enduro R in India, it faced criticism for toning down the bike’s capabilities. The local version shared suspension travel figures with the 390 Adventure, limiting its off-road prowess. Responding to feedback, KTM announced plans to sell the international-spec Enduro R in India in limited numbers — and now, it’s here.
What’s new?
The most significant difference in the global-spec 390 Enduro R lies in its suspension. It comes equipped with a 43mm upside-down fork at the front with 30-step damping adjustability, while the rear uses a monoshock system offering 20-step damping and 10-step adjustable preload. This setup allows for a generous 230mm of wheel travel at both ends, compared to the 200–205mm available in the Indian version. The bike also features a taller seat height of 895mm, giving it better ground clearance and more room to soak up rough trails and uneven terrain.
Braking duties are handled by a 285mm disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear. Both brakes use floating calipers, which enhance stopping performance and control, especially in unpredictable off-road situations.
Engine
Powering the global-spec 390 Enduro R is the same 399cc LC4C single-cylinder engine that KTM uses across the 390 range. It delivers 46 horsepower at 8,500 RPM and 39 Nm of torque at 6,500 RPM. Mated to a six-speed gearbox, the engine benefits from a wet, slip and assist clutch setup, and comes with a quickshifter for seamless gear changes both up and down. This combination offers a responsive, engaging ride whether you’re tackling rocky inclines or cruising on tarmac.
To meet Indian homologation standards, the motorcycle receives a few additional components. These include a grab handle, leg and saree guards, a lower front fender, dust covers for the shock and forks, number plate brackets, and handlebar end weights. While these parts are necessary for legal compliance, they don’t take away from the bike’s core off-road DNA.
Rivals
With the arrival of the global-spec KTM 390 Enduro R, serious trail riders in India now have access to a true dual-sport machine with uncompromised off-road potential. Though it’s available only in limited numbers, it sets a new benchmark for entry-level adventure and enduro motorcycles in the country.
