Maruti Grand Vitara 7-Seater: Powertrain

The Y17 is set to strut its stuff on the Global C platform, hand-in-hand with the current Grand Vitara. Don’t be surprised when it rolls out with the same engine lineup—yes, that includes the so-called ‘powerful’ 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine alongside the 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain. And guess what? The transmission choices are poised to mimic those of the five-seater model, as if we’ve been waiting for originality!

Maruti Grand Vitara 7-Seater: Launch & Market

Maruti Suzuki will manufacture the three-row Grand Vitara at a new facility in Kharkhoda, Haryana, operational by mid-2025, with the Y17 SUV as its first model and a market launch expected at the end of 2025. The seven-seater Grand Vitara will compete in a market against rivals such as the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, and MG Hector Plus, which are also three-row versions of their five-seater counterparts.
