MG Windsor EV: Explore the Excite, Exclusive, and Essence Variants

MG Windsor EV just hit the market at a sweet introductory price of Rs. 9.99 lakhs (ex-showroom) and a battery rental of Rs. 3.5 per km. This beauty is MG’s third electric car after the ZS EV and the Comet, and it’s their first product in India since teaming up with JSW earlier this year.

Battery-as-a-Service Model (BaaS)

The Windsor offers a Battery-as-a-Service option, where the battery is not included in the car’s base price. Buyers pay Rs. 3.5 per km for battery usage, which is said to reduce the vehicle’s initial cost and lower per-kilometre expenses for customers, making electric vehicle ownership more accessible.

Launch Timeline

Book your slots for the Windsor starting 3rd October, and get your deliveries from 12th October. Fancy a test drive? They’ve got you covered starting 25th September. The Windsor rocks three trims – Excite, Exclusive, and Essence, and you’ve got four awesome colors to choose from – Starburst Black, Pearl White, Clay Beige, and Turquoise Green.

Exterior

The MG Windsor exudes a confident minimalist design, a characteristic feature of MPVs. Despite its five-seater configuration, it presents itself with the commanding presence of an enlarged hatchback. Notable design elements encompass sleek flush door handles, uncluttered surfaces, and striking full-width LED light bars at both ends. The distinctive stepped front-end design, with headlamps positioned on the bumper, contributes to the Windsor’s unparalleled aesthetic appeal.

The Windsor has a large glasshouse wrapping around the rear, with extended quarter glass sections and chrome accents adorning the windows, door sills, and bumpers. It is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels featuring a sleek 5-spoke design.

Interior & Features

In the interior, the Windsor follows a minimalist theme, featuring a black cabin accented with copper highlights. The dashboard showcases a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system alongside a free-floating 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. The aero lounge seats provide a 135-degree recline for added comfort.

The Windsor car model offers physical HVAC controls and wireless connectivity for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as wireless phone charging. It also features rear AC vents, ventilated front seats, a 9-speaker Infinity sound system, panoramic glass roof, and ambient lighting. This model stands out in the Indian market for its inclusion of physical HVAC controls, which is uncommon in international versions relying on touchscreen inputs for all in-cabin controls.

Safety

The Windsor comes equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, all four disk brakes, ESC, a 360-degree camera, as well as front and rear parking sensors.

Powertrain & Battery Specifications

The MG Windsor comes equipped with a 38kWh LFP battery and prismatic cells, providing a claimed range of 331 km on a single charge. Its front axle-mounted motor delivers 136 HP and 200 Nm of torque, and the vehicle offers four driving modes: Eco+, Eco, Normal, and Sport.

MG claims that the Windsor can be fast charged at 45kW, enabling the battery to reach 80% in just 55 minutes. It also features 3.3kW and 7.7kW AC chargers, with the latter capable of fully charging the battery in about 6.5 hours.

Warranty and Additional Benefits

For initial buyers, MG offers a lifetime battery warranty with no mileage limit. They will also get one year of free public charging, making the Windsor a more appealing choice for those switching to electric mobility.
